A practical outcome

One of the first (because hopefully there will be many more!) outcomes of the loose partnership we formed in the autumn of 2012 was the more structured partnership that comes with an Erasmus Mundus project. Unfortunately, it was impossible to have every one of the original founders of the network participate; the project was conceived by our Georgian partners as one involving "Lot 5", i.e. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldava and Ukraine. They had already discussed the idea with several EU universities, so there was no room for more EU partners. As it were, three of the AHN founders participated in the project: Tbilisi (Tea Gergedava), Sofia (Galina Rousseva-Sokolova) and Athens (Amalia Moser).

The project is called HERMES, an acronym for Humanities Education Revitalized via Mundus ExperienceS, but we have argued its  appropriateness for the project on the basis of the ancient god's characteristics; you can find this and all other information on the project in its website: www.erasmusmundus-hermes.uoa.gr. HERMES is extremely unusual among Erasmus Mundus projects, because it is dedicated to one field only, that of the Humanities.

Hopefully, we will all be able to participate in other projects, e.g. under the new Erasmus+ programme, and also take other initiatives that will promote the Humanities.
